The corpus has a rich history which is witnessed in its present condition. It was originally placed in the chancel of Holy Cross Lutheran on Lehigh Ave, when that congregation merged with a nearby German Lutheran congregation. The UniLu office has a photograph showing the chancel, and the corpus was painted with a white finish. When the church suffered from a fire, the corpus received a good deal of smoke damage. It was taken down and put into storage, and forgotten about. When Holy Cross closed it's doors a few years ago we had the opportunity to bring it here to UniLu.
