Small GroupS

When you come to University Lutheran, we encourage you to get involved in one of our small groups so that you can connect to other people and make friends with your sisters and brothers in Christ.  Studies say that if you don’t know 7 people in the first 6 months in a congregation, you’ll begin to fade away and not feel invested!

The activities listed below are meant for visitors and members alike to become involved with the church in a variety of ways that fit your schedule and comfort level. Feel free to contact us for more information on any of the events below.

Coffee and Conversation

1st & 3rd Wednesdays + 8.30-10.00 AM

A get together to casually and talk about whatever is going on in the world and our lives.  There’s no agenda or specific topic.  We meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month.  On the 1st Wednesday we meet at Saxby’s Coffee (on Drexel's campus at 34th and Lancaster) and on the 3rd Wednesday at Starbucks (on UPenn's campus at 3800 Locust Walk) between 8:30 and 10:00 AM. Stay for a few minutes or the whole time.  Bring a friend.  The conversation is shaped and enriched by the diversity of the people who come and often wanders into thinking about how belief and God are at work in our lives and the world.

Anyone is welcome to come out and join us Thursday evenings for a few minutes or a couple hours, whatever your schedule allows. And as a bonus most of our events are accompanied by a hot meal.  We meet at 6:00 PM.  On the third Thursday of the month join us for Theology on Tap!

Theology on Tap

3rd Thursdays + 6.00 PM

Theology on Tap is an extension of Chill Night that allows us to explore God's word outside the walls of the church. Join us for an opportunity to talk about God and the deeper things of life over good beer and other beverages.  The discussion is freewheeling and open.  No judgment.  No pressure.  Just good beer and honest dialogue.  We meet the third Thursday of the month.
